CanAfro Research Institute is pleased to announce the release of its latest research report, Being Black in AI, a comprehensive policy-focused study examining the position of African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) communities within Canada's artificial intelligence ecosystem.

Titled Being Black in AI: Evidence, Trends, and Policy Futures at the Intersection of Artificial Intelligence and African, Caribbean, and Black Communities in Canada, the report brings together data analysis, policy review, and critical insight to explore how AI systems, labour markets, innovation strategies, and governance frameworks intersect with race, equity, and inclusion in Canada.

This volunteer-driven, unfunded research report, began in April 2025, is intended for policymakers, researchers, technologists, community organizations, and institutions working at the intersection of technology, equity, and public policy.

It advocates for systemic changes to promote an equitable and inclusive AI and highlights how the contributions of African, Caribbean, and Black communities can be leveraged for national economic prosperity.
